We began unit 5 today
even though we were missing Mr. Blake :(! Unit 5 was about Newton's 3 laws. The
first law stated that any object in motion will stay in motion unless acted
upon by an outside unbalanced force. That law also complied with objects at
rest. For an example we had to do the "tablecloth trick," in which we
used a pen and a paper. We had to remove the paper from below the pen without
making the pen tip or fall. It was pretty hard but eventually our group got it!
As long as we kept a constant pull and didn't make sudden movements the pen
stayed standing up.
The second law of Newton stated the
equation to find force, F=MA, force equals mass times acceleration. We used
this when we were doing the practice problems in the packet. We also learned
that force and acceleration are directly related and mass and force were
inversely related!
The last law of newton stated that
between interacting objects there are equal and opposite reactions. We learned
more about this when we did the diagram of the skinny guy and the fatty and how
if they collided which way they would be traveling and how fast their
acceleration was!
Today was kind of weird without Mr.
Blake but Jon did a pretty good job filling in for Mr. Blake! My picture below
is a picture I took a while ago. It reminded me of Newton's first law about how
objects at rest will stay at rest unless acted upon by an outside unbalanced
force. This paper didn't move while I was taking the picture because it wanted
to remain at rest and there was nothing to make this paper move.
